学びの準備 ／Prepare to learn	ねらい ／Goal この授業では、学生がJane EyreやThe Scarlett Letterという長編小説を読み、その作品について話し合うことによって、文学と英米文化の理解を深める。作品について、短い論文を書く。授業は 100％英語で行われるが、予習として、日本語訳を参照しても構わ ない。 メッセージ ／Message This class will be conducted entirely in English! Reading and discussing literature is one of the best ways to improve your English. Let's have fun discussing novels in English. The difficulty of the class will be adjusted to match student ability. 到達目標 ／Attainment Targets 学生は文学の要素（プロット、登場人物、語り方、象徴、テーマなど）と文学作品において使用されている様々な英語表現を理解し、文学作品について理解度を深める。最終目標として、作品分析及び論文の正しい書き方を学びつつ、しっかりとした構成を持つ作文が書けることを目指す。
学びの実践 ／Learning Practices	授業計画 ／Class Plan We will discuss two or three novels, and students will write an academic paper on one of those novels. テキスト・参考文献・資料など ／Textbooks, references, materials, etc. テキスト： 1. Jane Eyre: Level 6. Oxford Bookworms. 2. The Scarlett Letter. Level 4. Oxford Booksworms. 参考書・参考資料等： 1.『ジェイン・エア』」シャーロット・ブロンテ、河島 弘美訳 2.  『緋文字』　ナサニエル・ホーソーン著、鈴木重吉訳 学びの手立て ／Way of learning We will read and discuss a novel or two. Student requests will also be considered. 評価 ／Evaluation 学生に対する評価 総合評点の構成は以下の通りとする。 （１）テスト　　３０％ （２）論文１　　３０％ （３）論文２　　４０％
