ねらい
/Goal
The aim of this course is for students to improve their
ability to communicate in English. In order to maximize
speaking time, students will do most of their work in pairs
or small groups. Students are expected to refrain from
speaking in Japanese and to speak English as often as
possible. THIS IS AN ENGLISH ONLY CLASS!

In addition to whole-class activities, we will have many pair and
small-group activities.

/Textbooks, references, materials, etc.
Students are required to bring an electronic dictionary (電子辞書) and a B5 notebook to every class.
Handouts will be posted on MOODLE, so students should print out their own handouts and bring
them to class.  Check the MOODLE site regularly, please!
学びの手立て
/Way of learning
Students will be expected to do a lot of speaking in English during class. For homework, students
will be expected to 1.) spend one hour speaking with a classmate in English outside of class, and
2.) spend one hour reading English aloud on their own.
*Refer to Homework Report Sheet for additional information.
*Homework will account for a large percentage of the final grade.
評価
/Evaluation
Students will be evaluated based on class activities (20%), short tests (20%), homework (30%),
role-plays (10%), presentations (10%), and notes taken during class (10%). Three latenesses
will be counted as one absence; however, a lateness of more than twenty minutes will count as
an absence.   *I would like to be notified when a student expects to be absent (e-mail is best).
