Enhancing speaking ability through thought-provoking subject matter. As this course is an option among 3 for students studying teacher license training the course will cover some education related topics. Students will only be able to receive credits for this class with attendance of 66% or better.

ねらい
/Goal
The goal of this class is to enhance and develop students' discussion skills by giving them a forum in which to use and improve them. Various types of discussion will be analyzed and effectuated. This class will be taught all in English.  Student's will have the opportunity to participate in simple daily discussions as well as more complex assessments including a panel discussion, and discussion on topics related to education in Japan.

Consideration of self, society, and others through thought-provoking articles and group derived subjects. Improvement in discussion ability and critical thinking in English. Students should expect to improve their ability to synthesize, question, engage in argument and use materials to hypothesize.

Students should expect to participate in brainstorming relevant current social and cultural topics for discussion and to work in groups with classmates outside and inside class time as necessary in order to prepare and participate in all English classroom discussions.
