※ポリシーとの関連性
/*Relevance to Policy
The only non-negotiable aspect of this class is that        students should be prepared to write in their own English.

学びの準備
/Prepare to learn
ねらい
/Goal
This class provides opportunities for students to write in  realistic contexts. Writing tasks may include multimedia    presentations, structured essays and short film reviews, as well as narratives and fully-referenced essays.
メッセージ
/Message
I consider spelling, punctuation, grammar and other         conventions to be aspects of writing which serve the        purposes of communication.  Students, however, are expected to develop awareness of these as aspects of effective
writing.
到達目標
/Attainment Targets
This is a process-approach class, so students are not required to produce a measurable 'product'. Instead, the target isfor students to gain sufficient confidence to use English in written contexts where, at present, they may feel      intimidated to do so. Part of this involves realising there is no single correct English or correct amount of English.

No text book is required for this class. Supplementary materials will be provided by the teacher.
学びの手立て
/Way of learning
In my experience, gifted writers are often avid readers who can transfer their skills from their    first language. On the other hand, the correlation between oral and written proficiency is much     weaker. In other words reading and writing in any language are the most likely strategies for       improving writing skills.
