学びの準備 ／Prepare to learn	ねらい ／Goal この授業では、学生が様々な短編小説を読み、それぞれの作品について話し合うことによって、文学と英米文化の理解を深める。一つの作品について、３ページぐらいの作文を書く。授業は100％英語で行われるが、予習として、日本語訳を参照しても構わない。 メッセージ ／Message This class will be conducted entirely in English! Reading and discussing literature is one of the best ways to improve your English. Let's have fun discussing various short stories and novels. The difficulty of the class will be adjusted to match student ability. 到達目標 ／Attainment Targets 学生は文学の要素（プロット、登場人物、語り方、象徴、テーマなど）と文学作品において使用されている様々な英語表現を理解し、文学作品について理解度を深める。最終目標として、作品分析及び論文の正しい書き方を学びつつ、しっかりとした構成を持つ作文が書けることを目指す。

Copies of the stories will be provided. Students can consult Japanese translations of the texts outside of class, but the class discussions will be in English. 参考書・参考資料等 「ダブリン市民」ジェイムズ・ジョイス、安藤一郎訳　 学びの手立て ／Way of learning We will read and discuss stories together. Students should develop their ideas and interpretations of the stories and write essays on two of the works we discuss. 評価 ／Evaluation 学生に対する評価 総合評点の構成は以下の通りとする。 （１）テスト　　３０％ （２）作文１　　３０％ （３）作文２　　４０％
