/Goal
Building on Seminar I, this course explores climate fiction in greater depth, examining texts that reflect on the relationship between humans and the environment. Through reading and discussion, we will consider how writers and filmmakers respond to environmental change and the impact of human activity on the planet, including coastal and ocean-focused futures.

This course will be conducted primarily in English, except in cases where Japanese is necessary. Active participation, consistent effort, and independent study are required.
This will be a safe environment where you will be able to make mistakes as part of the process.
到達目標
/Attainment Targets
Through this seminar students will be able to:
1. Understand key characteristics of climate fiction.
2. Analyze how literature represents environmental crises and issues related to climate change.
3.Develop the ability to think and write critically through close reading, presentations, and discussion of assigned texts and media.
4.Explore texts related to their own interests and begin developing a plan for a graduation thesis.

Selected excerpts and short texts will be provided by the instructor (PDF or handout). Students are expected to bring assigned readings and their reflection journals to every class.
学びの手立て
/Way of learning
Students who miss more than one-third of the total class sessions will receive a failing grade unless special circumstances are recognized by the university. Students are expected to complete out-of-class reading, reports, and preparation for discussions and in-class assignments. Active participation is also required.
